Who doesn’t love an innovative hack that works? The following is a hack for homeowners who have stainless steel appliances in their kitchens. To remove scratches three basic ingredients are needed, and it really couldn’t get more simple than this.

Three Simple Ingredients

The first thing that is needed is a soft toothbrush and whitening toothpaste. Use a small amount of toothpaste on the scratch and gently scrub it with the toothbrush. Not many people know that toothpaste can be an effective cleaner that’s capable of removing scratches on glass and kitchen appliances.

Once the scratch disappears, remove the excess toothpaste using a damp microfiber cloth. The third and most surprising ingredient is cooking oil. This can be sunflower or olive oil. Just wipe over the scratch area with some oil, and the appliance will look new again.

Cleaning Kitchen Sinks

If you’re dealing with a stainless steel sink, use a microfiber cloth and a soft abrasive cleaner, and put it on the scratches. Remember not to apply too much pressure. Once this is done, use another clean microfiber cloth and remove the polishing agent and any dust metal particles.

For deeper scratches found on uncoated stainless steel kitchen cabinets, use an abrasive pad such as sandpaper or a scrubbing sponge and some olive oil. They’ll gently buff out and re-polish stainless steel finishes. White vinegar can also be used on both chrome and stainless steel. Only use this after removing scratches to bring a shine that makes cabinets look new.

Cleaning the Oven

Commonplace baking soda can remove light scratches on stainless steel kitchen ovens. It has a powdery texture that will act like a gentle abrasive. Just add some water to the baking soda and mix it into a paste. Use this on the surface of the stainless steel and gently rub. Once done, remove the paste and wipe using a microfiber cloth.

With these kitchen cleaning hacks, you’ll have your stainless steel kitchen appliances looking brand new in no time!
